Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star

The T-33 Shooting Star was one of the first jet trainers operated by the US Air Force and Navy, first entering service in 1948. T-33’s have seen extensive training use since their introduction, and a number of them even entered civilian ownership. The T-33 on display at the museum, as well as another based at Preston Smith International Airport in Lubbock, were originally owned by Skip Kelley, a Korean War ex-Air Force mechanic that lives nearby the museum. Skip used to fly these jets for fun in his younger days, and has seemingly endless stories and knowledge from his life as a jet mechanic.
